XD Otaku scare me. The sad thing is that they are as bad as you say. ._. that and give plain old fans bad names. ( I like anime,,, heck, I draw it, but I love things that aren't imported from islands too!) In any case, this had me laughing my butt off. The balance and coordination is used for DDR, that and mobbing people who say bad things about naruto.

I have to appreciate the humor in this strip. Seriously, it's great. :D
Personally, I don't know if I really am an "otaku", but I do really enjoy watching many anime series.
The difference between a true "otaku" and simply someone who likes anime is that "otakus" like anime for the only fact that it's... anime. That's how I see it at this moment, I think.
I detest the oversized breasts (duh?) and Yaoi fanatism, though. :( And I am definitely not obsessed with the Japanese culture, while I do like some Asian music.

Yeah, I felt like saying all of that, even knowing that nobody gives a damn. :P

This has to be the hardest I've ever laughed at something making fun of something I like. I can't help feeling that I'm less of an otaku these days. I've been watching a lot less anime because it's become stale over the years. Only a few actually original titles have been made in this century. I've actually been going back to a lot of old American cartoons and most of my movies are, dare I say, American. I've been focusing more of my time on Don Bluth films, actually.

I'm not an otaku as much as I am simply an appreciator of anime and Japanese pop culture, but I have to admit this comic is pretty hilarious.

I can see that were I introduced to anime at a more suggestible age by a friend I could have fallen down this very slippery slope. As it is, I simply observe and chuckle. I'm more of a traditional geek, really.

Though the maturity issue still clearly stands, another one here is emotion. But I guess stereotypes exist to be made fun of ;)
